Rubber Expansion Joint Manufacturing Process in China
1. Material Preparation
Rubber Compound Mixing: Precisely blend natural/synthetic rubber with additives (carbon black, sulfur, accelerators) in internal mixers
Fabric Reinforcement Treatment: Calender cotton/nylon/polyester fabrics with thin rubber layers for reinforcement
Metal Component Preparation: Machine flanges/rings from carbon steel/stainless steel, then sandblast and prime surfaces
2. Building Process
Inner Liner Formation: Apply anti-stick solution to mandrels, then wrap uncured rubber sheets to form the inner tube
Reinforcement Layering: Alternate rubber and fabric layers (typically 2-6 plies) with specific overlap patterns
End Reinforcement: Install metal rings/flanges at joint ends using positioning tools
External Covering: Apply final rubber layer with UV/ozone-resistant compounds

3. Vulcanization
Mold Preparation: Heat steel molds to 150-160°C and coat with release agents
Curing Process: Place assembled joints in molds, apply 15-20kg/cm² pressure for 30-90 minutes
Post-Cure Inspection: Verify dimensional accuracy and surface quality after demolding
4. Finishing & Testing
Trimming: Remove flash rubber using rotary knives
Surface Treatment: Apply protective wax or coatings
Quality Control:
Pressure testing (1.5x working pressure)
Visual inspection for bubbles/cracks
Dimensional verification with templates
Optional X-ray for critical applications
5. Packaging
Wrap joints with anti-corrosion paper
Secure with wooden crates/plastic straps
Mark with product specs and handling instructions
